El género Podocarpus es el más
numeroso de la familia Podocarpaceae. Dentro del género existen dos subgéneros,
Podocarpus y Foliolatus, ambos con cerca de 45 especies. Además
dentro de cada subgénero se han descrito 9 secciones.
En Chile existen 2 especies nativas de Podocarpus,
ambas pertenecientes al subgénero Podocarpus:
